Trend and Anti-trend

Anti-trend: People who make fun of people who don't have TV who make fun of people who do have TVNahmean? Fluff and I do not have TV and we represent because we really feel like there is some better shit to do. Well, the new trend is to hate on people who don't have TV and are proud of it. Not only do they hate but they think other people will think they are hilarious for naysaying our naysayery. Well, fuck you and your Gossip Girls, Losts, Real Worlds and shit.

It's like when I used to protest KFC and there would be counter-protesters on the other side of the highway with shitty ass signs that no one could read and they were fat and downing chicken. Wow, they really showed us!!!!!!!!!

Trend: The Basic Banana Clip

Have these come back yet? I remember 2 years ago thinking I need to bust out some banana clip action before anyone else and then nothing happened. It's like the 80's came again and went and no fucking banana clips. So lets just complete this 80's thing again and also let me clarify:

None of this:

This says "fancy" in Nebraska still to this day and would send a very wrong message in an urban setting...

Lots of this in different colors for now:

Trend and Anti-trend

Trend: Bike Messengers

You've all seen them, lining the curb at a gas station, refueling their fit bodies/begging before they act as the ultimate middle man on 2 wheels. I am reminded of that Brady Bunch episode where one of the kids is transporting blueprints for dad and really effs it up. I like to pretend that the stinky hippies who take up bike messaging (or is it a chicken/egg situation?) are carrying Mr. Brady's blueprints to safety and that is sexy. There is something about these patchouli-wearing couriers that makes me want to quit my real job, get some cool gloves and ride shotgun (= handlebars).

Anti-trend: Shit-locks

I am an advocate for all things natural and this means dreds, especially. Dreds are sexy and lead me to believe that dude is about "something". No one ever knows what that "something" is but that isn't important. What I don't like is when dude 1) has multiple dreds sprouting uniformly from his dome like he spent hours in front of the bathroom mirror separating and cultivating his knotted hair 2) wears a t-shirt around his locks 3) has 3 huge dreds total, looking like he has just forgotten about the hair on his head entirely. That is too hardcore for me. I see many a white dude sporting this look and sometimes he is a bike messenger. The shit locks trump the bike messenger hotness and knocks him into the anti-trend category and ultimately he is totally unattractive.

Trend and Anti-trend of the Week

Trend: DIY Nails

DIY Nails

I’m not a big fan of the fake nails, but if I was going to get some- I’d do it MacGyver style. I decided to try my own version of fake nails, so I took a trip to the CVS down on the corner. Several options awaited me: long, short, sporty square, colored, French mani. Also, had to decide if I wanted to glue the suckers on or use the little sticky tabs. I opted for a square tips pack with glue and sticky tabs. I thought about getting the really long, curly looking ones, but had a flash back of this ghettofab lady that was a receptionist at a salon I had visited. Her nails were so long that she couldn’t hold a pencil or dial the phone. Plus, I like to pick my nose. So, sporty square it was- and then I headed over to the super cheap nail polish section. They always have the best colors. I selected a metallic purple, pale yellow, and red. At home, I used the tabs and pressed the nails on. Instant valley. I slather them in purple paint and edge the tips diagonally in yellow. Red dots on half the nail. And since its like 2am, I decide that I’m going to bed. I wake up and half the nails are wonky….word to the wise: if you intend for these suckers to stay on for any length of time, use the glue. The sticky tabs work as well as they did back in the day with Lee Press-Ons (which means they suck). Anyhow, here are the pics, let me know what ya’ll think.

Anti-Trend: Fake DSL’s
Unless you are born with them (and all the sisters out there know what I’m getting at), those fake, collagen looking swim floaties attached to your face just make you look like you got punched in the face. I mean, why not paint some dark circles around your eyes stick a crack pipe in your mouth? At least people will know why you look so ridiculous.

This is not directed towards anyone with the natural DSL’s. Those send a whole different message.

Love,

Fluffers

Trend and Anti-trend of the Week

Trend: Bubble Hems

Yes, we know….it sounds like something your grandma would sew for you and make you wear to Easter Mass. But this subtle hemline makes for the cutest, girliest, dresses! I know- I own like three of them. Pair them with pin-up pumps and a mod head band (like we featured in our Trend of the Week #2), and you’ve got instant sex appeal…..okay, well, maybe not instant (kind of like batteries not included, right?).

Anti-trend: Guys Who Wear Gucci

I’m sorry. I don’t mean to offend anyone. But we think guys who wear name brand LOGOS everywhere just reek of “men’s airport bathroom sex scandal.” Guys should broadcast their confidence and masculinity- NOT where they bought their man-purses. Oh and those tight-ass pants? Well, they broadcast a whole different picture for the ladies….and all of you guys with less going on down there might want to re-think that.

I seriously don’t have anything against fashionable males, but how come JT can make wearing a vest reek of “please worship me now” and “I want to have babies with you?”

Fashion according to Fluffgirl

Clothing is art. Given the infinite possibilities of a raspberry Cotton Spandex Jersey Double U-Neck Dress, the effect of said dress is exponential. Lifestyle is clothing. Under stress, what is our preferential garb? Do our choices preclude the giddiness felt while eyeing the white/gold/ burgundy Stripe Thigh-high Socks? Or is it a mixture of Baby Thermal Hot Short with Baby Rib Camisole? Regardless, one would be naïve to forget that fashion is lifestyle. Keeping abreast of current fashion fads and foibles may require the purchase of a Blackberry – or you could just buy a Unisex Velour Track Jacket and be done with it.

Fable has it that a savvy shopper shows no signs of weakness or wavering when confronted with sale-priced merchandise- yet I say to you: there couldn't be a more difficult decision when it comes down to a gold Lame Suspender Swimsuit and a Pique Cross Front Jumper in Sea Foam. I'll take them both!

I am fashion. Fashion embodies an individual's creativity and showcases one's ability to manipulate apparel in a way that flatters him or her. Fashion manipulation is not an easy task, but one which is greatly rewarded. It's what gets me up in the morning even when my body is saying no…..even when it seems like I should just call in sick. I'll tell you what makes it a whole lot easier for me, though- my Polyester Microfiber Cross-Front Dress in purple. Its all a girl needs to conquer the world.
